The ProMusica Concert Series has been a proud part of the rich musical heritage of the city of Gainesville and Northeast Georgia since 1951. Maude Martin was the organization's first president, and was an active and devoted board member to what was then called The Gainesville Artist Series, later changed to The Gainesville ProMusica Concert Series adopted in 1978, and later incorporated in 1993. The name was most recently changed to ProMusica Concert Series to reflect the organizations desire to provide great music and community outreach to the entire Northeast Georgia region.
After the passing of long time executive director G. Jackson Howorth in late 2005, directorship of the organization was assumed by Jack A. Bell. Mr. Bell is a long time resident of the Atlanta area , former member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and retired associate professor of percussion at Georgia State University. As ProMusica’s current Executive Director, Jack is proud to be at the helm of an organization with a long history of musical excellence, education, and outreach to the Northeast Georgia community.
