Vocati is Latin for "The Called" -- thus we are a choir of 'the called.' Coro Vocati seeks to provide a professional quality choral experience for gifted musicians who understand their "Call" to serve as music educators, church musicians, vocal teachers, singers and conductors. Although we aspire to become one of the premier chamber choirs of the South, our raison d'etre is to create a workshop in rehearsal and concert for the inspiration and continuing education of music educators and professional musical colleagues.

Coro Vocati is comprised of musicians from both the Atlanta and Macon areas. From diverse backgrounds, we offer our gifts in service to Music.

Artistic Director and Conductor, John Dickson is Dean and Professor of Conducting at Mercer University's Townsend School of Music where he conducts the masterworks chorus. He is also the founding director of, Coro Vocati. Prior to his appointment at Mercer, he was the Director of Choral Studies and Chair of the Conducting Division at Texas Tech University. A collegiate choral conductor and mentor to graduate conducting students for more than thirty years, his choirs have been featured at conferences of the American Choral Directors Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the Association of British Choral Directors

He was the founder and Artistic Director for the Cambridge University, St. John's College/ Texas Tech University Summer Choral Institute. He is also the Founding Director of the C. S. Lewis Foundation's Oxbridge Choral Institute.

He holds the D.M.A. degree in choral conducting from The University of Texas at Austin, the M.M. degree in music history and literature from Baylor University, and has done post-doctoral study at Cambridge University, Cambridge, England
